Body Balms for Kids As the weather gets colder, kids seem to bring home more colds and other sicknesses. So often these are minor and can be treated with fluids, rest, and time (always check with your pediatrician to make sure). But waiting it outeven when that's what the doctor orderscan be so frustrating! If you're like me, you'd do ANYTHING to make your child more comfortable, so they (and you!) can rest a little easier. Inspired by this need to comfort my own kids through their myriad childhood illnesses, I developed these three Body Balms for Kids. |

| The three different formulas help me to help them with the overall restlessness that sickness brings. With bases made from Sweet Almond Oil, Beeswax, and Vitamin E, along with kid-friendly essential oils and no petroleum products, artificial colors or preservatives, they're also products that I feel comfortable sharing with friends and familyand now with you! (Please note that these products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and that the advice here is not meant to substitute for the advice provided by your physician or other medical professional. Products containing peppermint essential oil are not recommended for use during pregnancy.) |

Snuffy Kid Chest Rub contains eucalyptus, peppermint and lavender essential oils. Simply massage a layer of Snuffy Kid onto the chest and back, and cover with a loose-fitting garment. (Please note that the oils may stain.)
Kid testers and parents alike have enjoyed the smell of this rub, and of course the massaging is very soothing for a child who doesn't feel well! |
NOTE: We do not recommend using Snuffy Kid Chest Rub on children under the age of three. Please do not apply Snuffy Kid to the nose or face, or take internally. Children with asthma may have an adverse reaction to the vapors from essential oils, so start with small amounts and discontinue use if coughing worsens. If your child has sensitive skin or displays irritation or rash, please discontinue use. Not for people with liver, gallbladder, or digestive disorders.

Over the years we've found that nothing eases an upset stomach quite like peppermint. Taken as a lozenge or candy, peppermint may reduce nausea and is even said to help with motion sickness.
When massaged on the belly, our Queasy Kid Tummy Rub with peppermint essential oil can be soothing, too! Apply the tummy rub in a clockwise motion around your child's belly button. You can also apply it to their lower back. The peppermint will probably give them a cool, tingly sensation on their skin, which most kids like! |
| NOTE: We do not recommend using Queasy Kid Tummy Rub on children under the age of three. Please do not apply Queasy Kid to a child's face or take internally (please keep it out of kids' reach!). Children with asthma may have an adverse reaction to the vapors from essential oils, so start with small amounts, and discontinue use if the child coughs or seems otherwise irritated. In some rare instances, people are allergic to peppermint oil applied topically; if your child has sensitive skin or displays irritation or rash, please discontinue use. |

Sleepy Kid Foot Rub has the same almond oil and beeswax base as the other body balms, but includes lavender essential oil. Any grown-up will tell you how relaxing a foot massage can be, but kids really LOVE to have their feet rubbed! Try Sleepy Kid just before bed, if your child feels restless, or if they're fighting off a virus and just can't get comfortable. Though we love it best for foot rubs, there's no reason you can't use this as a massage balm for the back, shoulders, legs and arms, too. Lavender is one of the mildest essential oils and in this dilution it is safe to use just about everywhere and on just about everyone (see note below). |
NOTE: We don't recommend using Sleepy Kid Foot Rub on children under three, or applying near the face. It also shouldn't be taken internally, so please keep out of kids' reach! Rarely some people are allergic to lavender; if your child has sensitive skin or displays irritation or rash, please discontinue use. If your child has asthma, he or she may be bothered by the scent of essential oils, and you should take care to discontinue use if they seem irritated by the product.
